Free first assessment

A short first assessment by email or phone. We check whether your legal expenses insurance can cover the costs and tell you which route suits you. If you have legal expenses insurance, it often costs you nothing.

Advice, case review and document check

We discuss a single issue and a single file with you by phone or in person and then send a short written summary. If needed, we read all your documents, check the deadlines, set out the legal basis and make a preliminary calculation of your loss. Before you sign an offer letter, discharge, expert report, refusal letter or policy clause, we tell you in writing what to check and what to ask for.

Complaint to the insurer

We write a reasoned complaint to the insurer's complaints service, prepare an Ombudsman application if needed and send a formal notice referring to the 3-month reply duty. If your legal expenses insurer says the case is not worth pursuing, we help you obtain an independent lawyer's opinion under the objectivity clause.

Ombudsman complaint and follow-up

We prepare your application to the Insurance Ombudsman, monitor the insurer's replies and follow your file until the end of the procedure. Applying is free and suspends the limitation period.

Negotiation

We calculate your claim, prepare a counter-offer, negotiate with the insurer and review the settlement text.

Litigation

We handle your damages claim before the police court or the court of first instance.

Do you have legal-expenses insurance?

In Belgium you are free to choose your lawyer (Insurance Act art. 156). If you and your legal-expenses insurer disagree on how to handle the case, for example if the insurer says it is not worth pursuing, you can obtain the opinion of a lawyer of your choice. If that lawyer agrees with you, the insurer must pay your lawyer's and court costs within the policy limits, whatever the outcome (art. 157). If your policy applies, our fee is invoiced directly to the insurer within the lawyer-fee limits in your policy. If part of the fee might exceed those limits, we tell you in writing before starting.
